/the-problem

Most ERP decisions are made before anyone reads a requirement.

By the time a shortlist exists, the decision has usually already been taken — by a demo that showed the good path, a peer who runs something similar, or a board that wants a number by Thursday. The evaluation that follows is documentation for a conclusion, not a route to one.

That matters because the expensive mistakes in ERP are not choosing the wrong product. They are choosing the right product for a process you were about to change anyway, licensing modules you won't use for two years, or committing to a scope that assumed data you don't actually hold.

So we do the unglamorous part first. What you run today, what it costs you, where Odoo fits natively, where it doesn't, and what the whole thing costs across three years rather than one. If the honest answer is that Odoo isn't right for you, that is in the document too.

/what-it-saves-you

What it saves you

  • Current-state process map across the functions in question
  • Gap analysis against native Odoo, gap by gap, with a verdict on each
  • Module recommendation with a phase-one and phase-two split
  • Community versus Enterprise assessment for your specific requirements
  • Three-year total cost: licensing, hosting and implementation effort
  • A phasing plan with indicative durations
  • A written fit or no-fit recommendation
  • A scope agreed before a budget is committed, not after
  • Modules bought when you need them, not at signature
  • Custom development scoped against native capability, not assumed
  • A licensing decision made on your requirements rather than a vendor's margin
  • An implementation date built on evidence
  • The option to walk away with the document and no implementation at all

/how-we-run-it

Four stages. Two to five weeks, depending on scope.

A single-company review of one operational area sits at the short end. A multi-company group with several functions in scope sits at the long one.

  1. 01

    Framing

What decision are you actually making, and by when. Half a day, and it changes everything that follows.

    0.5 day

  2. 02

    Current state

Workshops with the people doing the work. Process, volumes, systems, and the parts held together informally.

    1–2 weeks

  3. 03

    Gap & options

Every process against native Odoo. Configure, build, or change the process — with the cost of each.

    1–2 weeks

  4. 04

    Readout

The document, walked through with your decision-makers. Questions answered live, not in a follow-up.

    0.5 day

/where-this-fits

What comes before this, and what comes after.

Consulting is the first thing, and occasionally the only thing. If the answer is yes, it becomes the scope for implementation and the input to licensing. If the answer is no, it has done its job.

/questions

Asked on every first call.

  • It's a fair question and the honest answer is that we only sell Odoo, so the incentive is real. What we do about it: the recommendation is written, the reasoning is visible, and we have told clients not to proceed. The no-fit cases are usually a business with one genuinely unusual core process that a specialist system already handles well — forcing that into an ERP is how you get a custom module nobody can maintain.

  • A demo shows what Odoo does. This tells you what it would do for you, where it wouldn't, and what closing that gap costs. One is a sales activity; the other is a deliverable you keep.

  • A four-hour First Look — a current-state review, a module recommendation and an honest fit answer. It's the lowest-commitment way to get a real opinion, and it's deliberately priced to be a decision you can make without a business case.

  • No, and the document is written so you don't have to. It's specific enough to hand to another partner or to your own team. Most clients do continue with us, but that's meant to be a choice made after the work, not a condition of it.

  • The people who do the work, for the current-state sessions. One decision-maker who can commit, for the readout. The most common cause of a stalled ERP decision is a readout delivered to people who then have to go and persuade someone who wasn't there.
